Digital rewards clarification and... GIVEAWAY TIME!
about 2 years ago – Thu, Jul 23, 2020 at 05:42:02 PM

Hey backers,

I hope you're all enjoying that Bonus Digital Extravaganza. I meant to say in my last update that all digital rewards have been fullfilled EXCEPT for that JUMP #1 PDF and the accompanying materials (script and production files). Fabio and Edson are still working hard to complete the draw-ins some of your ordered up during the campaign, so it's not quite ready to go just yet. I'll keep you updated here as all of that plays out.

Calrifications aside, I'm writing today because it is GIVEAWAY TIME! If you remember, we partnered with my favorite pop cutlure website - PopCultHQ - to bring you a truly special 3rd stretch goal. Check out the details HERE

Short and sweet, PopCultHQ is going to mail ten lucky backers - drawn at random - a signed graphic novel from one of the top names in comics (see the list below). Winners will be notified in the next day or two via email and these will be shipped ASAP, so they'll actually be in your hands before THE JUMP #1.

And if you miss out on those signed ABERRANT - SEASON 1 and BANJAX - SEASON 1 TPBs, remeber there are plenty available in the BACKERKIT SHOP.

We're still down about 100 surveys. Fill those out ASAP, huh? We need that info for fulfillment.

As always let me know if you have questions or concerns. Stay safe out there. Talk soon.

Here is a list of what's up for grabs in the giveaway:

  • AfterShock Comics’ BLACK-EYED KIDS Vol. 1 TPB signed by writer Joe Pruett
  • BLACK MUMBA OGN signed & sketched by writer Ram V
  • Trade paperback of ABERRANT Season One – SIGNED by creator/writer Rylend Grant
  • Trade paperback of BANJAX Season One – SIGNED by creator/writer Rylend Grant

The store is open! Surveys are coming!
about 2 years ago – Tue, Jul 21, 2020 at 10:05:12 PM

Hey all,

Some of you will receive your Backerkit surveys tonight... the site makes you first send a "smoke test" to 5% of your backers to ferret out any problems before you go out wide. The rest of you will receive yours tomorrow morning. Make sure you fill those out as quickly as possible. I essentially can't get the book off to the printer until I have the information gleaned from those surveys, so the whole enterprise currently hinges on this.

As I alluded to before, there'll be plenty of fun add-on opportunities for you when you check out via Backerkit. The Backerkit storefront is actually already open if you want to check it out/preview things:

So, anything you missed out on rewards-wise will be in shop. You can pick up an extra copy of the book, of that variant you missed out on. There is plenty of original art and the like. But we're also offering full runs of my other books - BANJAX and the Ringo Award-winning ABERRANT - singed, in both TPD and floppy form.

You'll also be able to score some UBER rare ABERRANT and BANJAX con variants. In some cases only 50 copies of these exist in the entire world. These were only ever available at one specific con on one specific weekend, but now you can get them here.

I  thought it might be fun to highlight some of those for you...

SDCC '18 Exclusive ABERRANT #1 - COMING TO AMERICA Variant

SDCC ('18) Exclusive Aberrant - Issue 1 COMING TO AMERICA Variant signed by Rylend Grant. Fewer than 50 of these exists.

SDCC '19 Exclusive ABERRANT - Season 2 #1 - KARATE KID Variant

UBER Rare SDCC Exclusive Aberrant - Season 2 - Issue 1 KARATE KID Variant signed by Rylend Grant. Fewer than 50 of these exist.

SDCC '19 Exclusive BANJAX #1 - GREMLINS Variant

UCF Exclusive ABERRANT #1 - NATTY Variant

UBER Rare Aberrant - Issue 1 UCF "Natty" variant. Made for a University of Central Florida Fundraiser. Meant to commemorate/lament the undefeated UCF Football team being left out of the '17 BCS Championship Playoff. Here, characters from ABERRANT - dressed in UCF gear - are crashing Alabama's Nation Championship celebration. Fewer than 50 made. A portion of the proceeds from this will go to the UCF fund.

Baltimore Comic Con '19/Ringo Awards Exclusive ABERRANT #4 - THE WIRE Variant

Aberrant #4 Baltimore Comic Con/Ringo Awards Exclusive THE WIRE Variant signed by Rylend Grant. Made to commemorate Issue 4's nomination for the BEST SINGLE ISSUE at the 2019 Ringo Comic Book Awards.  Fewer than 50 of these exist.

As always, if you think something is missing from the shop/there's something else you'd like to see, let me know and I'll do my best to accommodate.

A NOTE FOR YOU: Charges from Backerkit will appear as "THE JUMP Comic." So, don't get freaked out if you see that on your credit card statement.

I hope all is well with you guys. Stay safe out there. Talk soon.

Surveys coming soon!
about 2 years ago – Thu, Jul 16, 2020 at 08:46:46 PM

Hey all,

Quick update for you here. Backerkit surveys will be coming early next week once Kickstarter finally turns the funds over to me. Obviously, there was a delay on their end processing your payments, so it's set things back a few days. Production is wrapping up swimmingly though. The artists are hard at work on those draw-in and commission rewards and things are shaping up nicely with our printer.

I've been using the extra time to really beef up the backer kit experience for you guys. We'll be offering some very special stuff for you there, including BANJAX and ABERRANT fun you won't be able to get anywhere else. If there is something you'd like to see/like us to offer, lob me a DM and let me know.

If you have any questions or concerns in the coming weeks, I'm here for you. Don't hesitate to reach out.

Stay safe out there. Talk soon.

Kickstarter's charge lag
about 2 years ago – Tue, Jul 07, 2020 at 03:12:39 PM

Hey all,

I finally heard back from Kickstarter this morning re: the fact that your pledges have yet to be collected. Well, they're not saying much:

Hi Rylend,

Thanks for reaching out. We’re working to resolve this issue, and hope to have it all fixed soon. Thanks so much for your patience and understanding, and apologies for any inconvenience.

Kickstarter Support

So, it's clearly a problem on their end. I know they had to layoff a number of employees amid all this COVID craziness and so I think that maybe these issues are now a bit harder for them to iron out when they pop up. The long holiday weekend probably didn't help either.

Anyway, they're "working to resolve the issue, and hope to have it all fixed soon." I'll keep you updated here as info rolls in.

I hope your weekend was splendid. Stay safe. Talk soon.
